About the Photographer
I first fell in love with photography in 1999. (Little did I know then that 2 years later my portfolio would be going to national competition in New York.) I loved photography so much that I minored in Fine Art Photography in college. I started out only photographing nature, landscapes, and buildings around the area. In 2005 my photography ended up catching the eye of the East Lansing Art Gallery and they requested that I display my work there. I just could not believe what all was happening all due to a high school teacher that always pushed me to do more and believe in myself.
So I have to admit that up until a few years ago that I wanted nothing to do with photographing people. However, that all changed when my best friend had her baby. I offered to take her new born photographs (which I knew nothing about doing) and from there I was hooked.
Over the years I have had numerous friends and family members ask me to do some photographs for them. From that I started seeing photographs that I took hanging on the walls of their homes and hearing comments that their friends and family made about them. That was the point that I made the decision to start HMZ Photography.
Photography is not my full time job, but I love it so much that I find time to capture moments in life. I hope that I get to capture a few special moments in yours.
